Meet the Students

Chloe Jeong

Founder & Artist

I started this club to brighten shared spaces and the local community. I wanted to utilize murals for setting a more welcoming environment and also inspire students to see how art can have a positive impact on the community. I have been interested in art since elementary school, creating with different mediums. Mural painting on different surfaces has expanded my experience with art mediums. In high school, I continue to grow as an artist by participating in art competitions and school-related art opportunities, often utilizing art as a translation to express community and environmental issues.

I wanted to participate in mural painting because it is an incredible opportunity to collaborate with other artists and bring large-scale creativity into a public space. I also love the idea of turning a plain wall into something that can inspire, connect, and bring joy to everyone who passes by it. I have loved art since I was a kid, creating drawings for my grandparents and family. Over the years, I have learned to fully express my creativity using a physical paintbrush and traditional form of art.

I wanted to participate in the mural project because I enjoyed trying different forms of art. I had always wanted to paint a mural whenever I saw beautiful artwork on walls. I hoped to take part in many different art activities so that I could help make the world more colorful and beautiful. I started drawing when I was in third grade because I wanted to create characters from my favorite cartoon shows. In 7th grade, I began studying fine art and started using paint to create my artwork. Since then, I have continued exploring many different artistic styles to express my ideas and creativity.

I wanted to participate in mural painting to experience working with different kinds of paints and surfaces in a project on a bigger scale. I also hope that by participating in the mural paintings, it will increase school spirit, and the students at these elementary schools will have something to look at, comment on, and maybe be inspired by during their time. I started doing art ever since I was young, out of a hobby and interest, but really began to receive lessons coming into middle school. Ever since, I have continuously completed numerous art projects both in and outside of school, and also participated in local and national awards.
